HP8130e
Chrome OS

I have an HP8130e that is connected to our network and is being sent print jobs from Chromebook OS. I cannot print more than one copy of any document and am unable to change the printer settings since this is a Chromebook OS. I do not see any relevant settings when accessing the printer via the IP address. I need to be able to print out 20-30 copies of documents without hitting print 20-30 times.

Hi @Behavior_Wizard

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the setup so clearly—it’s understandably frustrating when your HP OfficeJet 8130e won’t print multiple copies from a Chromebook, especially when everything else seems to be working fine. This limitation is typically tied to how Chrome OS handles Mopier Mode and print job replication, especially with HP printers using IPP (Internet Printing Protocol).

Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help you print multiple copies reliably.

Why This Happens

  • Chrome OS uses IPP Everywhere or Universal Print Class Driver, which may ignore or override copy count settings unless Mopier Mode is disabled.
  • Mopier Mode is designed for enterprise environments to reduce duplicate jobs—but it can block multiple copies from being printed unless the printer is configured to handle them internally.

Steps to Resolve

1. Access Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Open a browser and enter your printer’s IP address (e.g., http://192.168.x.x).
  • Navigate to Settings > General > Copy or Mopier Settings.
  • If Mopier Mode is enabled, disable it.
    • If you don’t see this option, proceed to the next step.

2. Use HP Smart App (Web or Mobile)

  • Go to HP Smart Web or use the HP Smart mobile app.
  • Add your printer and go to Advanced Settings.
  • Look for Job Storage, Copy Count, or Mopier Mode under Print Settings.
  • Disable Mopier Mode or enable collated copies if available.

3. Use Google Admin Console (If Managed Chromebook)

If your Chromebook is managed by an organization:

  • Log into Google Admin Console.
  • Go to Devices > Chrome > Printers.
  • Select your HP printer and ensure copy count is allowed in the print policy.
  • Save and push the policy to your device.

4. Use HP Print for Chrome Extension

  • Install the HP Print for Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  • This extension may offer better control over print settings, including copy count.
  • After installation, select your printer and try printing multiple copies.

Let me know what you see after checking these settings—I’ll guide you further if needed.
