I'm attempting to connect my HP Photosmart 7520 to my newly installed mesh network.
The network is configured for WPA2.
My Printer is unable to connect to the network.
I've read that a printer factory rest may be required but cannot find instructions.
I have completed a firmware update using "PS_7520_R1830A.exe"
Outside help now required.

Hi @Martin2032,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To resolve the connectivity issues with your HP Photosmart 7520 on a WPA2 WiFi network, let's follow these steps.
Factory Reset the Printer:
- Power On the Printer: Ensure the printer is turned on.
- Touch the Settings Icon: On the printer's control panel, touch the Setup icon (gear icon).
- Navigate to Tools:
- Touch Tools.
- Select Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
Reconnect the Printer to the WiFi Network:
- Touch the Wireless Icon: On the printer’s control panel, touch the Wireless icon (antenna icon).
- Open Wireless Settings:
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard.
- The printer will search for available networks.
- Select Your Network:
- From the list of available networks, select your mesh network.
- Enter your WiFi password when prompted.
- Confirm and wait for the printer to connect to the network.
Firmware Update Verification:
- Ensure you have the latest firmware installed by checking the HP support website or using the HP firmware update tool you mentioned.
Restart Devices:
- Restart your router/mesh network and the printer after the above steps to ensure they are synchronized.
Check Printer IP Address:
- After connecting, print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to verify the printer’s IP address.
- Ensure the printer's IP address matches the subnet of your mesh network.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you may consider the following.
Check Network Compatibility:
- Ensure your mesh network supports 2.4 GHz, as many older printers, including the HP Photosmart 7520, may not support 5 GHz networks.
- Verify that your mesh network is not using mixed security modes or advanced features that may not be compatible with older devices.
Advanced Troubleshooting:
- Access your router settings and temporarily disable WPA2 to see if the printer connects with a simpler security mode (like WPA). If it connects, this may indicate a compatibility issue with WPA2.
- Re-enable WPA2 after testing and explore any additional router settings that might enhance compatibility with legacy devices.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
