HP DeskJet 4130e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Having problems with my HP printer, deleted it to try to reload the driver but it is asking for a password. I have tried 'admin' and 'hpinvent' but neither seem to work.  How do I reset the password or is there a factory set default that will let me in?

Hi @Grayham127,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 4130e All-in-One printer is asking for a password that you're unsure about, you might be dealing with a network setup issue or a security feature. Here are some steps to help you resolve the issue.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer, navigate to the Settings menu (usually accessed from the touchscreen).
  • Look for Network Settings or Wireless Settings.
  • Select the option to Restore Network Defaults or Reset Network Settings. This will reset the printer's network settings and may remove any saved passwords.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • While the printer is off, press and hold the Cancel and Power buttons simultaneously.
  • While holding these buttons, turn the printer back on.
  • Continue holding the buttons until the printer’s control panel displays a message indicating that it is resetting.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • After resetting the network settings or performing a factory reset, try reinstalling the printer.
  • Download the latest drivers and software from the HP Support website.
  • Follow the installation instructions provided in the setup wizard, which will guide you through connecting the printer to your network and setting it up.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
