Hi Jensmith7518

Here are the most effective troubleshooting steps to get your HP DeskJet 2855 back online, starting with the simplest:

Simple Power Cycle (The Quick Fix)

The most common solution for connectivity issues is to restart everything.

  1. Restart your Printer: Turn off your HP DeskJet 2855. Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

  2. Restart your Wi-Fi Router: Turn off your Wi-Fi router, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Wait a few minutes for the router to fully reconnect to the internet.

  3. Restart your Phone/Device: Restart the device you are trying to print from (your phone, computer, etc.).

  4. Test Printing: Once all devices are back up, try printing a document again from your phone.

Check Wi-Fi Connection Status

If the power cycle didn't work, verify the connection lights on your printer:

  • Check the Wireless Light: Locate the wireless indicator light on your printer (usually blue).

    • If the light is solid blue, the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.

    • If the light is blinking or off, the printer is not connected. This is where you need to re-establish the connection.

  • Confirm Network: Ensure both your printer and your phone/device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

 Resetting the Printer's Wi-Fi Settings

If the Wi-Fi light is blinking, you might need to reset the printer's network settings to put it back into setup/pairing mode:

  1. Press and Hold: On the printer's control panel, press and hold the Wireless button (it looks like a Wi-Fi symbol) and the Cancel button (the 'X') at the same time.

  2. Wait for Power Light: Hold them down until the Power light starts flashing. This usually takes about 3 seconds, but could take up to 10 seconds.

  3. Release: Release both buttons. The printer's Wireless light (blue) should now be blinking. This indicates the printer is in setup mode.

  4. Re-Add the Printer:

    • Open the HP Smart app on your phone.

    • Tap the plus sign (+) or the Set Up a New Printer option and follow the on-screen prompts to reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi network.
