Hi @jt2181,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re having network issues and want to print directly from your computer to your printer via USB. Let’s go step by step to make sure you can print successfully.

1. Check USB Cable & Ports

Make sure you’re using a working USB cable (preferably the one that came with the printer).

Connect it directly to your computer, avoiding hubs or adapters.

Use a different USB port if the printer isn’t detected.

2. Install Printer Drivers

Go to the HP Support website for your printer model.

Download the full-feature driver for your operating system.

During installation, choose USB as the connection method instead of network/Wi-Fi.

3. Add the Printer Manually

Windows:

Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Click Add a printer or scanner.

Wait for Windows to detect the printer.

If not detected, click The printer I want isn’t listed → Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings → Use an existing port (USB001).

Select your printer from the list and finish installation.

macOS:

Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Click +, select the printer under Default, and choose Use: AirPrint or the installed HP driver.

4. Test Printing

Open any document or photo and select Print.

Make sure the USB-connected printer is selected.

Print a test page to confirm functionality.

5. Optional: Disable Network Printing Temporarily

To avoid confusion, turn off Wi-Fi/Ethernet on the printer until you resolve network issues.

This ensures the computer prints directly via USB without attempting a network connection.

I hope this helps.
