MAC Address is a hard coded physical address assigned to the hardware when the device is manufactured.

For Example,

Find the MAC address of your printer

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Tools > Reports > Printer Reports > Select Report to print

Examples (Model dependent)

Printer Status Report

Usage Report

Network Configuration Page

Wireless Test Report

Web Access Report

Fax Log

Fax List

OR

Alternate style EWS (select newer InkJet printers and select Laser printers)

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Support Tools > Reports and Pages > Print OR Download > Select Report and Print / Download

Select "Network Configuration Report"

MAC Address -- Added Router Security

If you have need of adding the MAC address for reasons of network security, this might typically be done by adding the MAC access and the IP address of the device to your router.

Example - Printer - Paired MAC and IP Address in Router security:

Tying the two numbers together means only that hardware device can use that IP address in your network.  Perfectly fine as long as you remember to manage, remove, update the paired entry if you change the printer IP or change out the printer.

The practice of pairing MAC Address and IP Address in router security might be called "MAC Filtering".

MAC address filtering on a router allows you to control which devices can access your network by specifying their unique MAC addresses. For example, you can create a list of allowed devices (whitelist) or blocked devices (blacklist) in your router's settings to enhance network security.

Search the internet for "example of MAC Addressing filtering in router"
