@East99, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!
I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.
To find the Host Name of your HP wireless printer, you can follow these steps depending on your printer model:
Method 1: Use the Printer's Control Panel
Most HP printers with a display panel allow you to print a Network Configuration Page or Wireless Test Report, which includes the Host Name.
Steps:
- On the printer's control panel, go to:
- Setup or Settings > Reports > Network Configuration Page
- Or: Wireless > Print Reports > Network Configuration Page
- Print the page.
- Look for the Host Name entry under the General Information or TCP/IP Settings section.
Method 2: Use HP Smart App/HP App (Windows/macOS/iOS/Android)
If your printer is already connected to Wi-Fi and added to HP App/Smart:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Select your printer.
- Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings (this opens the Embedded Web Server).
- Navigate to Network > Network Identification.
- You’ll see the Host Name listed there.

Method 3: Access via Embedded Web Server (EWS)
If you know your printer’s IP address:
- Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network.
- Type the printer’s IP address into the address bar (e.g., http://192.168.1.5).
- Go to Network > Network Identification or Bonjour Settings.
- The Host Name will be listed there.
Tip:
- The Host Name often looks like: HPXXXX.local or HPprintername.domain
- You can also find it in your router’s connected devices list.
