New HP printer. Have the WIFI connection all set, but need to be able to send a document or an image from my iPhone to be printed. I downloaded the AH Smart app to my phone, but I still need help.

@Wolfman141, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here's a step-by-step guide to help you print an image or document from your iPhone to your HP DeskJet printer using Wi-Fi and the HP Smart app:

Before You Start

  • Make sure your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your HP printer.
  • Confirm that the printer is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi (steady blue light on the Wi-Fi indicator).
  • Ensure you've downloaded the correct app: HP Smart, not "AH Smart" (maybe a typo).

Option 1: Print Using the HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
  • Tap “Print Photos” or “Print Documents” on the home screen.
  • Allow access to your photos/files if prompted.
  • Choose the image or document you want to print.
  • Tap the Share/Print icon or “Preview.”
  • Tap Print (top right corner).
  • Select your HP printer (should show automatically).
  • Tap Print.

Option 2: Print Directly from iPhone (AirPrint)

You don’t need the HP Smart app if you use AirPrint, which is built into iOS:

  • Open the image or document (in Photos, Safari, Mail, or Files app).
  • Tap the Share icon (a square with an up arrow).
  • Scroll down and tap Print.
  • Tap Printer, then select your HP printer.
  • Choose the number of copies and other settings.
  • Tap Print in the top-right corner.

Note: Your printer must support AirPrint (most new HP DeskJet models do).

Troubleshooting Tips

Printer not showing up?

  • Make sure both the iPhone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart the printer and iPhone.
  • Open the HP Smart app and re-add the printer if needed.

Image not printing correctly?

  • Make sure you’ve selected the correct paper size and photo tray (if applicable).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
