Hi @Rizzo01

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you would like to unlock the wifi connection without username and password However. Are you trying to connect to your own Wi‑Fi network at home to your laptop or printer.

Do you currently see the Wi‑Fi network listed in your available connections, and if so, does it prompt you for a password or username when you try to connect?” This identifies whether the problem is a missing password, a misconfigured network, or a special type of Wi‑Fi that requires login credentials (like enterprise or campus networks).

Take care and have an amazing day!

My router quit and I replaced it and set up a new wifi network I couldn't get the printer to talk to the router. Digging into it I found the wireless settings for the old router had been locked into the printer. Since I have no idea what the old printer username and password are I can't reset the network settings.

Hi @Rizzo01,

Thank you for responding.

To resolve the issue of your HP printer being locked to the settings of your old router, you can perform a reset of your printer's network settings, which will help it connect to your new router without needing the previous username and password. Here's a general guide on how to proceed:

Restore Default Network Settings

  • Make sure your printer is powered on.
  • Locate the network reset option for your specific model:
  • On many HP printers, press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button together until the wireless light starts blinking.
  • On touchscreen models, navigate to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  • This clears the old router’s saved credentials.

Connect to the New Wireless Network

  • Ensure your printer is still powered on.
  • Use the printer’s control panel or touchscreen to select Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Choose your new Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password.
  • If your printer doesn’t have a screen, use the HP App  https://www.hp.com/us-en/hp-app/overview.html on your computer to complete the setup.
  • Confirm that both your computer and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Use HP Software for Setup

  • Download and install HP Easy Start or the latest drivers from the official HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Follow the on‑screen instructions to finish connecting your printer to the new router.
  • Run a test print to verify the connection.

Access HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) (Optional)

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from your printer to find its IP address.
  • Type the IP address into a web browser to open the EWS.
  • Log in with:
  • Username: admin
  • Password: the WPS Security PIN shown on the Network Configuration Page (if required).
  • From here, you can adjust advanced network settings or confirm the connection.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Have a good day.
