I set up a new modem and I cannot get my printer on the new wifi network. It won't add to the HP "Smart" because it is already there. I don't see any way to remove it from the not so smart app to start over.

For additional context when I go into the HP"SMART" app on my computer and click on the computer. It tells me to Select a Different Printer. There is no other printer to select! It also says that my printer must be turned on to add it to HP "Smart". It is turned on. The purple light does not come on when I press the two buttons.

Hi @nonameworks1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer's connectivity!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Understood. Your printer seems to be stuck trying to connect to the old Wi-Fi network, likely causing issues with the HP Smart app. To resolve this, you can reset the printer’s network settings to enter setup mode and reconnect it to your new Wi-Fi. If the printer has trouble reappearing in the app, reinstalling HP Smart might help reset any lingering configurations.

Hi @nonameworks1,
Thank you for the response.
Let's try a few more steps:
Manually Connect to Wi-Fi (If HP Smart Fails)
Print a Network Configuration Report:
Press and hold the Information button until all control panel buttons light up, then press the Information and Wireless buttons together.
Look for the Wi-Fi Direct Name & Password on the report.
Connect your computer/phone to the Wi-Fi Direct network of the printer.
Open HP Smart, go to Advanced Settings (EWS), and manually enter your new Wi-Fi credentials.
Add Printer Using IP Address (If Necessary)
Get the IP Address from the Network Configuration Report.
Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address → Enter the printer’s IP address.
Reinstall HP Smart (If Not Detecting the Printer)
Uninstall HP Smart from your computer or mobile device.
Restart your device and install HP Smart again.
Try adding the printer again.
If the Printer Still Won’t Connect:
Restart your Wi-Fi router.
Make sure 2.4GHz Wi-Fi is enabled (some HP printers don’t work with 5GHz).
Try using a different device (PC or phone) to set up the printer.
Let me know if you need more help
I hope this helps.
