Hi @LBound,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn printer to your new Wi-Fi network, follow these steps.

Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi

Ensure the Printer is Powered On: Make sure the printer is turned on and ready to connect.

Access the Printer’s Control Panel: Use the printer’s control panel to navigate to the Network or Wireless settings.

Select Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button (or go to the Setup menu, then select Network or Wireless Settings).
  • From the menu, select Wireless Setup Wizard.

Choose Your Wi-Fi Network:

  • The printer will search for available networks.
  • Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list. If prompted, enter your Wi-Fi password.

Confirm the Connection: Once the printer is connected to the network, it will print a network configuration page to confirm the connection.

Install the Printer on Your Computer

Since your printer does not have Bluetooth and you do not see Bonjour (a discovery service for networked devices) on your computer, you'll need to install it manually through the IP address or network connection.

Download and Install the Printer Software:

  • Go to HP’s support page for the LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn and download the latest software for your operating system.

Add the Printer to Your Computer:

  • Windows:
    • Open Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.
    • Click on Add a Printer, then choose Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
    • Select your printer from the list (it should appear if the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer).
  • Mac:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Click the + button to add a printer.
    • Choose your printer from the list of available printers.

Set the Printer as Default (optional): After installing the printer, you can make it the default printer for convenience.

Test the Printer

Try printing a test page from your computer to make sure everything is set up properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @LBound,

Thank you for your response,

Let’s dive into more advanced steps to address potential issues, especially with IPv4 and IPv6 settings.

Here are some additional steps to try if your printer is still not connecting properly:

Check the Printer’s IP Address:

  • After the printer connects to your Wi-Fi network, print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel (usually under Network Settings).
  • Ensure that the printer is assigned an IP address under the IPv4 section. If an IPv6 address is listed instead of IPv4, this might be causing issues with your computer’s ability to find the printer.
  • If the printer has both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled, try disabling IPv6 in the printer’s network settings to see if it resolves any connectivity issues, especially if your computer’s network is not set up for IPv6.

Assign a Static IP Address:

  • Sometimes, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) can cause issues if the printer’s IP address changes or is not assigned correctly.
  • Access the printer’s Network Settings via the control panel and manually set a Static IP address for the printer within your local network's IP range.
    • Example: If your router’s IP is 192.168.1.1, assign the printer an IP like 192.168.1.100.
  • Once set, update your computer’s printer settings with the new static IP address.

Use the Printer’s IP Address for Manual Setup:

  • On your computer, during the printer installation, choose the Manual Setup option and enter the printer’s IPv4 address (printed on the network configuration page).
  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add Printer, select Add a Printer via TCP/IP and input the printer's IPv4 address.
  • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click the +, and select the printer by IP using the printer’s IPv4 address.

Check Router and Firewall Settings:

  • Ensure that there is no firewall blocking communication between the printer and the computer. Check your router settings and verify that the IP range for the printer is allowed.
  • If using a dual-band router, make sure both the printer and computer are connected to the same network band (either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). Some printers may not support 5 GHz networks.

Reboot Your Router:

  • If the network configuration seems correct but the printer still isn't visible, reboot your router. This can help resolve any DHCP or IP conflict issues.

Update the Printer’s Firmware:

  • Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause network connectivity issues. Visit the HP support website, download the latest firmware for your printer, and install it via the Firmware Update option in the printer’s Network Settings.

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings:

  • If everything else fails, reset the printer’s network settings back to factory defaults.
    • Navigate to the Network Settings menu and look for an option to reset network settings.
    • After resetting, repeat the Wi-Fi setup process from the control panel.

Testing and Verifying the Connection:

  • Ping Test: From your computer, open the Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac), and use the ping command with the printer's IP address to check if it is reachable:
    • Example: ping 192.168.1.100 (replace with your printer’s IP address).
  • If the ping fails, double-check the network setup and IP address.

By following these advanced steps, you should be able to troubleshoot deeper network-related issues and improve connectivity between your printer and computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
