HP DeskJet 4220e All-in-One Printer
macOS 15.0 Sequoia

Hey all,

Downloaded the HP app for Mac. Turned on the printer. Instructions say "Connect the printer to a WiFi network using HP Smart Software". Printer's on, WiFi flashing automatically when turned on, printer not showing up when selecting "Connect a new printer".

Where do I go from here? Thanks.

Welcome! Let’s get started on finding the best solution for your HP device.

If your HP DeskJet 4220e All-in-One Printer isn’t appearing in the HP Smart Software during setup, it could be due to connectivity issues. You can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

  1. Ensure Compatibility and Updates:

    • Make sure your macOS 15.0 Sequoia is fully updated.
    • Verify that the HP Smart App is the latest version. Check the App Store for any available updates.
  2. Check Network and Printer Connectivity:

    • Ensure your Mac is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. The printer needs to connect to the same network.
    • If there are issues with your Wi-Fi network, restart your router by unplugging it, waiting a few seconds, and plugging it back in.
  3. Reset the Printer Network Settings:

    • Turn on the printer, if it’s not already.
    • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button on the printer at the same time for about 5 seconds. This will reset the network settings.
  4. Reattempt Printer Setup:

    • Ensure the printer’s Wi-Fi light is blinking. This indicates it is ready to be set up.
    • Open the HP Smart App again and try to "Add Printer" or "Setup a New Printer"

You can refer to these links, which will guide you through the complete process of wireless setup.
