HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I am trying to connect my HP8030 to my router to mitigate some congestion on my wifi network.  The HP Smart app shows the interface as disabled.  I have confirmed the cable and router port are functional but cannot find the setting in the HP Smart app.

How do I enable this interface?

@Odd_Duck, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding enabling wired network!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like you're trying to connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e to your router using an Ethernet cable, but the interface appears disabled in the HP Smart app. Here’s how you can enable it:

Check the Physical Connection

  1. Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the printer and the router.
  2. Try a different Ethernet port on the router to rule out any port issues.
  3. Restart the printer and router after connecting the cable.

Enable Ethernet in Printer Settings

Since the HP Smart app doesn’t provide direct access to advanced network settings, you’ll need to check the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

Find the Printer’s IP Address:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > View Network Status.
  • Look for the IP Address under the Ethernet section.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser on your computer.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar and press Enter.

Enable the Ethernet Interface:

  • Go to the Networking or Network Settings tab.
  • Look for an option related to Ethernet or Wired Network.
  • If it's disabled, enable it and save the settings.

Verify Connectivity

Print a Network Configuration Page:

  • On the printer, go to Settings > Reports > Network Configuration Page.
  • Check if the Ethernet status is connected and has an IP address.

Check in HP Smart App:

  • Close and reopen the HP Smart app.
  • Click on the printer and see if it now detects the Ethernet connection.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
