Hi @tomb3234,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) for your HP printer, you usually need the printer's IP address and the login credentials. Here are the steps to find and reset the login and password if needed:
Finding the Printer's IP Address
Via Printer Control Panel:
- On the printer control panel, navigate to the network settings or wireless settings menu.
- Look for an option to display the network configuration or print a network configuration page. This page will display the printer's IP address.
Via HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Select your printer and navigate to the printer settings or network information to find the IP address.
Accessing the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Open a Web Browser:
- Enter the printer’s IP address in the web browser's address bar and press Enter.
Login Credentials:
- The default login credentials can vary. If you haven’t changed the login details before, try the default credentials:
- Username: admin
- Password: (leave it blank) or use "admin"
- If these default credentials don’t work, it’s possible that they have been changed.
Resetting the Login and Password
If you cannot access the EWS with the default or known credentials, you may need to reset the printer to its factory settings. Here's how to do it:
Restore Factory Settings:
- On the printer control panel, go to the setup or settings menu.
- Look for an option to restore the printer to factory settings. This option is usually found under "Maintenance" or "Printer Maintenance."
- Confirm the reset. Note that this will reset all settings, including network settings, to factory defaults.
Reconnect the Printer to the Network:
- After the reset, you will need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the printer control panel or the HP Smart app.
Reaccess the EWS:
- Once the printer is reconnected to the network, use the IP address to access the EWS again.
- Use the default login credentials to access the EWS and set up a new password if desired.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
