My printer goes to offline and will not print.  Used to be able to run troubleshooter to fix it.  Microsoft no loner supports this.  What can I do?

Hi @siestabax,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To get your HP Photosmart 5525 e-All-in-One Printer from offline to online, you can try the following steps.

Check Printer Status

  • Power On: Make sure the printer is powered on and ready.
  • Connections: Ensure that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

Set Printer as Default

  • Windows:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click on your HP Photosmart 5525 printer and select Set as default printer.

Restart Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer.

Check Printer Queue

  • Open the Devices and Printers window.
  • Right-click on your printer and select See what's printing.
  • If there are any documents stuck in the queue, right-click and select Cancel.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your Photosmart 5525.
  • Install the drivers and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Run the Printer Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Printer and run the troubleshooter.

Check Network Settings

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network:
    • Use the printer's control panel to access network settings and confirm it's connected.
    • If necessary, reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Reset the Printing System (Mac Only)

If you're using a Mac, you can reset the printing system:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the Printers list and select Reset printing system.
  3. Add your printer again.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP offers a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can help diagnose and fix printing issues. You can download it from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
