We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

I am not able to connect the printer to my WiFi or use the WiFi Direct function on the printer after multiple tries and have also tried resetting the network setup menu and services menu.
Kindly help me with hard resetting the printer.

Hi @Sanketh_M,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this can be. Thanks for explaining everything you’ve already tried. On the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M126nw, there is no dedicated “hard reset” button or key combo like on touchscreen models. However, you can perform a full factory reset (including NVRAM reset) using the steps below, which is the deepest reset supported on this model.

Method 1: Full Factory Reset (Recommended)

This resets network, Wi-Fi Direct, and printer settings back to factory defaults.

  1. Power ON the printer.
  2. On the control panel, press Setup (wrench icon).
  3. Navigate to Service.
  4. Select Restore Defaults.
  5. Confirm the reset.

The printer will restart automatically.

After this:

  • Wi-Fi settings are erased
  • Wi-Fi Direct is reset
  • The printer returns to the out-of-box state

Method 2: Power Reset (Clears residual firmware state)

This helps when Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct becomes unresponsive.

  1. Turn the printer ON
  2. Disconnect the power cable from the rear of the printer
  3. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds
  5. Plug the power cable directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector)
  6. Reconnect the cable to the printer and power it on

Method 3: Network Reset (if Wi-Fi menu partially responds)

If the menu still works but Wi-Fi is unstable:

  1. Press Setup (wrench)
  2. Go to Network Setup
  3. Select Restore Network Defaults
  4. Confirm

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
