Hi @EE38,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Resetting the IP address of an HP LaserJet P1606dn printer involves going through its network settings and restoring it to its default configuration. Please note that the exact steps may vary slightly depending on the firmware version of the printer, but the general process is as follows.
Print Network Configuration Page: Before you reset the IP address, it's a good idea to print a Network Configuration Page. This page will contain the current network settings, including the current IP address. To print the page, follow these steps:
- Press the "Cancel" button on the printer to wake it up (if it's in sleep mode).
- Press and hold the "Cancel" button for about 5 seconds until the printer starts printing the configuration page.
Access Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS): To reset the IP address, you'll need to access the printer's Embedded Web Server. To do this:
- Open a web browser on your computer.
- Enter the current IP address of the printer (you can find this on the Network Configuration Page you printed earlier) into the address bar of the web browser and press Enter.
Login to the EWS: You might be prompted to enter a username and password to access the EWS. If you haven't changed the default credentials, try using the following:
- Username: admin
- Password: (Leave this field blank)
Navigate to Network Settings: Once you are logged in to the EWS, look for the "Network" or "Networking" tab or section.
Reset IP Address: Within the Network settings, you should find an option to reset the printer's network settings. This option might be labeled as "Restore Network Defaults," "Factory Reset," or something similar. Click on this option to reset the IP address and other network settings to their default values.
Restart the Printer: After resetting the network settings, restart the printer by turning it off and then back on. It will obtain a new IP address from the network.
Verify the New IP Address: Print another Network Configuration Page or check the printer's control panel display to verify the new IP address. If everything went well, the printer should now have a new IP address assigned to it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
