I have selected private pick up when installing the printer. I have used my Apple I Phone series 7 to print however it does not work because Smart software requires ios 16 +while mine remains limited at 15. So I used my Samsung Phone series 9+ and while it opened the Smay sofware and followed the steps to send the files to the printer it too would not work. No explanation provided!
So NOW I want to disconnect this requirement from the printer. I want to get rid of this feature. Please tell me how best to acheive this simple request.

Hi @19OHV,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it must be to have a feature complicate your printing process rather than simplify it, especially when compatibility issues arise. Let’s work on disabling the Private Pickup feature so you can print without hassle.
to Disable Private Pickup on HP ENVY 6430e:
Access HP Smart from a Compatible Device:
- Since your Samsung phone can run the HP Smart app, use it to access the printer settings.
- Open the HP Smart app and ensure the printer is connected.
Navigate to Printer Settings:
- In the HP Smart app, tap your printer's name or icon to open its details page.
- Look for an option like Settings, Advanced Settings, or Printer Settings.
Disable Private Pickup:
- Under the settings, find the Private Pickup or Secure Printing option.
- Turn it off or disable it entirely. This will allow documents to print directly without requiring manual confirmation.
Reset Printer to Default Settings (if needed):
- If you're unable to find the Private Pickup option or it remains active, reset the printer's network and settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Test Printing Without Private Pickup:
- After disabling or resetting the feature, try printing directly from your Samsung phone or iPhone using AirPrint or Wi-Fi Direct.
- Ensure that no additional security settings (like PIN or authentication) are enabled on the printer.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue or you encounter difficulty accessing the settings, you can manage printer features directly through the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS). Click here
