Hi @GO80,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to remove the yellow plastic cover over the Ethernet port and set up the printer for internet access. on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e printer, follow these steps:

Prepare the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged from the power source for safety.

Locate the Ethernet Port:

  • The Ethernet port is typically located on the rear or side of the printer. It will have a small yellow plastic cover protecting it.

Removing the Cover:

  • To remove the yellow plastic cover, you may need to gently pry it open using your fingers or a small tool like a flat-head screwdriver. Here are some tips if you have weak hands:
    • Use a Gripping Aid: Consider using a rubber jar opener or a similar grippy tool to help get a better hold on the cover.
    • Apply Even Pressure: Apply even pressure on both sides of the cover to avoid damaging it.
    • Ask for Assistance: If possible, have someone assist you by holding the printer steady while you remove the cover.

After Removing the Cover:

  • Once the cover is removed, you should see the Ethernet port exposed.

Connecting Ethernet Cable:

  • To connect the printer to your network via Ethernet, insert one end of an Ethernet cable into the port and the other end into an available Ethernet port on your router or network switch.

Powering On and Setup:

  • After connecting the Ethernet cable, plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.
  • Follow the printer's setup instructions to configure the Ethernet connection. You may need to access the printer's menu or use the HP Smart app on your computer to complete the setup. HP printer setup (HP Smart app
