Hi @Gio1983

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP OfficeJet 6400 series printer to your phone, you generally have a few options depending on whether you want to use Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, or the HP Smart app. Here’s a step-by-step guide for each method:

Using the HP Smart App

Download the App:

  • Install the HP Smart app from the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS).

Connect Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
  • On the printer, go to the Settings menu, select Network, and then choose Wireless Setup Wizard to connect to your Wi-Fi.

Add the Printer in HP Smart:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone.
  • Tap on the + icon to add your printer. The app should automatically detect your printer on the network.
  • Follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Using Wi-Fi Direct

Enable Wi-Fi Direct:

  • On your printer, go to the Settings menu, then Network, and enable Wi-Fi Direct.

Connect Your Phone:

  • On your phone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and look for the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct name (it usually starts with “DIRECT-”).
  • Connect to it. You may need to enter a password, which is typically printed on a label on the printer.

Print from Your Phone:

  • Once connected, you can use any compatible app to print. Open the document or photo you want to print, tap the share icon, and select Print.

Using Bluetooth (if supported)

Check Bluetooth Availability:

  • Make sure your printer supports Bluetooth (the HP OfficeJet 6400 series typically focuses on Wi-Fi).

Pair Your Devices:

  • If Bluetooth is available, enable it on your printer and phone.
  • On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and look for your printer in the list of available devices to pair them.

Print from Your Phone:

  • Similar to the other methods, you can print directly from any compatible app.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure Connectivity: Make sure both devices are on the same network or connected via Wi-Fi Direct.
  • Restart Devices: If you encounter any issues, try restarting both your printer and your phone.
  • Update Software: Ensure that both your printer's firmware and the HP Smart app are up to date.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
