Hi @springboard5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

This issue could be caused by several factors, including network settings, account issues, or firmware problems. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

1. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off your HP 8720 printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Router: Restart your router by unplugging it, waiting for 30 seconds, and plugging it back in.
  • Computer/Device: Restart the device you're using to log in to your HP account.

2. Check Network Connection

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Verify that your internet connection is stable.

3. Update Firmware

  • Make sure your HP 8720 printer firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates directly from the printer's control panel:
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

4. Reconfigure Network Settings

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Network Settings.
  • Select Restore Network Settings and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

5. Log Out and Log In Again

  • Log out of your HP account on the website and then log back in.
  • Ensure you are using the correct credentials.

6. Check HP Account Settings

  • Verify that your printer is registered in your HP account. Sometimes, re-registering the printer can resolve connection issues.
  • Go to the HP Smart website, log in, and check the status of your printer.

7. Use HP Smart App

  • Try managing your printer using the HP Smart app. This app can sometimes bypass issues encountered on the web.
  • Download the HP Smart app on your device and follow the setup instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
