I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer shows as "offline" on your computer, follow these steps to bring it back online:
1. Check the Printer's Connection
- Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network. Check the printer's control panel for the wireless icon or network status.
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi if needed:
- Go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings on the printer.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to reconnect.
- USB Connection: Ensure the cable is properly plugged into both the printer and computer.
- Ethernet Connection: Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the printer and router.
2. Restart Devices
- Restart your printer, computer, and router.
- Power off the printer, unplug it for 1 minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
3. Set Printer as Default
- On your computer:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers (Windows) or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (Mac).
- Right-click your printer and select Set as Default Printer (Windows) or highlight it and click Default (Mac).
4. Clear Print Queue
- On Windows:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer and select See what’s printing.
- Click Printer in the menu bar and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
- Cancel all pending print jobs.
- On Mac:
- Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
- Cancel all jobs.
5. Reinstall the Printer
- Windows:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Remove the printer by right-clicking and selecting Remove Device.
- Download and install the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
- Re-add the printer via Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add a printer.
- Mac:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Highlight the printer and click the - to remove it.
- Re-add it by clicking the +.
6. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Only) HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor and run it to diagnose and fix connection issues automatically.
7. Check for Network Issues
- Ensure your computer and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Disable any VPNs or firewalls temporarily to see if they’re blocking the connection.
8. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check the printer's control panel for updates under Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
