Why won’t my printer connect to the internet

HP+ printers are designated by a lowercase "e" at the end of their model number (e.g., 8135e rather than 8135). These models are enabled for HP's smart printing ecosystem, which requires a permanent internet connection, an HP account, and the exclusive use of Original HP ink for the lifetime of the printer.

If using ink subscription then put the printer online through  the router.  Note that does not mean you can actually print.  If not using a static IP address then the router may give a new IP address to the printer. 

Log into the modem or router and change the SSID (names) of each band so the names are different. Create a numeric password identical for each band to simplify login. If you must use alphanumeric characters then do not use any from this set: ilL1aoO0D8B5S as they are easily mixed up depending on the font used. Be sure to run the application (if any) that finds the best channel for each band. Your ISP should be able to do all of this for you if you need help.

A simple connection to the router can be done by using the WPS pushbutton method. This is explained on page 11 in this User Manual.

Verify the printer is online by printing the network status report.  Use the front panel or buttons on your 8010e

Set your smartphone or laptop to print using Wi-Fi direct.

If you have a wired desktop and it has no Wi-Fi then ensure the address of the printer is static so the router does not change it.
