Hi @Endophil,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a blank screen on your HP OfficeJet 4650 can indicate an issue with the power supply, firmware, or internal components. Here’s a step-by-step troubleshooting guide:

1. Check Power Supply

  • Verify Connections: Ensure the power cord is securely connected to the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Use a Direct Wall Outlet: Avoid using a power strip or surge protector as they can cause power issues.
  • Inspect the Power Cord: Check for any visible damage. If the cord appears damaged, replace it with an HP-compatible cord.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord directly into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
  • Try turning on the printer.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the printer while it is powered on.
  • Wait 2-3 minutes.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

4. Test a Different Outlet

  • Plug the printer into a different wall outlet to rule out power supply issues.

5. Inspect the Printer Hardware

  • Open the printer and check for any visible damage, debris, or loose parts.
  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions.

6. Firmware or Software Corruption Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • If the printer screen remains blank and the power supply is confirmed working, it could indicate firmware corruption. This would require a firmware recovery. For this:
    • Download and install the latest firmware for your printer from HP’s support site.
    • Use a USB connection to attempt a manual firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
