Hi @Frustratedone45,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It’s incredibly frustrating when your brand-new HP Envy 6555e refuses to print, especially while showing “online” in Windows but “offline” on the printer itself. Let’s carefully untangle what’s going on and get it printing reliably.

Step 1: Power Cycle Everything

Begin with a full reset of your network and devices:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug its power.
  2. Restart your laptop and your Wi‑Fi router.
  3. Plug in and turn on the printer after 60 seconds.

This wipes any ghosted states from your network or devices.

Step 2: Confirm Network Connection

  • On the printer: ensure the Wi‑Fi light is a steady blue, indicating you're connected.
  • On your laptop: go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, click your “HP Envy 6555e,” and choose Open print queue. Ensure it’s not set to offline or paused, and set it as the default if needed.

Step 3: Clear the Print Queue & Refresh

If jobs are stuck:

  1. In the print queue, cancel all jobs.
  2. Click Printer → Cancel All Documents, then uncheck any “Use Printer Offline” option.
  3. Try printing a new test page from your app or Control Panel.

Step 4: Remove & Reinstall the Printer

Still showing offline? Try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer:

  1. In Printers & scanners, click your HP Envy 6555e → Remove.
  2. Choose Add device, then select the Wi‑Fi version of your printer during setup.
  3. Confirm it installs the correct network port, not a USB or “virtual” port.

Step 5: Use the HP App for Setup

Open the HP app:

  • If your printer isn’t listed, click Add Printer, and follow the on-screen wizard.
  • You can also print directly from the app; it's a great way to confirm things are set correctly.

Step 6: Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause communication hiccups:

  1. Within the HP app or the printer’s Embedded Web Server, check for Firmware Updates → Printer Updates.
  2. Install any available updates, then restart both the printer and PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
