HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

I can print two sided from our desktop computer.  I can't print two sided from my ipad or iphone.  The option doesn't even come up.  We have another HP printer that gives me that print option and it works.  How do I fix this for my Apple devices?

Hi @Linda1015,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're unable to print double-sided (duplex) from your iPad or iPhone using the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

Check Printer Settings on iOS Devices:

  • Make sure that your iPad or iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer.
  • Open the document or image you want to print and select the print option.
  • Look for the "Printer Options" or "More Settings" section in the print dialog box. Ensure that the "Two-Sided" or "Duplex Printing" option is enabled.

Update Printer Firmware and iOS Software:

  • Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates using the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.
  • Make sure that your iPad or iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. You can check for updates in the Settings app under "General" > "Software Update".
Update Printer Firmware: Make sure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually check for firmware updates through the printer's control panel or HP's official website.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app on your iPad or iPhone.
  • Follow the instructions to add your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer to the HP Smart app.
  • Print your document or image through the HP Smart app and see if the two-sided printing option is available.

Reset Printing System (iOS):

  • On your iPad or iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset.
  • Select "Reset Network Settings". This will remove all network settings, including Wi-Fi networks and passwords.
  • Reconnect your device to the Wi-Fi network and try printing again.

Check Printer Compatibility: Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e supports duplex printing from iOS devices. Most modern printers support duplex printing, but it's good to verify this with your printer's specifications.

Update iOS: Ensure that your iPad and iPhone are running the latest version of iOS. Sometimes, printing issues can be resolved by simply updating the operating system.

Check Printer Settings: Open the print settings on your iPad or iPhone when attempting to print. Make sure that the duplex printing option is enabled if available. You should see an option for "Two-Sided" or "Duplex Printing" within the print settings menu.

Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Try restarting both your iOS device and the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer.

Reinstall Printer: Remove the printer from your iPad or iPhone's list of available printers and reinstall it. To do this, go to Settings > Bluetooth & Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi > Choose your printer > Forget This Device. Then, re-add the printer by going to Settings > Bluetooth & Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi > Choose your printer and follow the prompts to reconnect.

Check Printer App: If you're using a specific printer app on your iOS device, ensure that it's compatible with duplex printing and that the settings within the app are configured correctly.

That didn’t help.

I was informed today, after a 2 hour chat online with HP , that the firmware is not yet set up to handle two-sided printing with iOS devices!!!  It will be - someday.  They don’t know when.  One would think that would be kind of

a baseline function before the printers go out the door to be sold- but what do I know?
