Hi @Boxtop_50,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it feels when your printer just won’t connect, especially when you’re ready to print and it keeps saying “offline.” Let’s fix this together for your HP DeskJet 2800e series.

Steps to Connect to Wi-Fi

1. Check Wi-Fi Requirements

  • Make sure you’re using a 2.4 GHz network (HP DeskJet 2800e does not support 5 GHz).
  • Ensure the router is within 6 ft (1.8 m) of the printer for setup.

2. Reset Printer Network Settings

  • With the printer powered on, press and hold:
    • Wireless button + cancel button together for 5 seconds.
  • The Wireless light should start blinking. This means the printer is in setup mode.

3. Use HP App

4. Check Router Settings

  • Disable MAC address filtering or Access Control temporarily.
  • Make sure your network name (SSID) and password have no special characters.

5. Update Printer Firmware

6. Alternative: Wi-Fi Direct

If you still can’t connect:

  • Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer (press the Wireless button until the light is solid).
  • Connect your device directly to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct name (shown on the info sheet).
  • Use HP Smart to print without a router.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
