I can’t get my HP 5100 smart tank to connect to Wi-Fi. I have verified my printer is in setup mode with the flashing blue wifi symbol but neither the HP Smart App on my Android device or the HP Smart App on desktop can't find my printer? This is beyond frustrating!

Hi @JTMode,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I completely understand how frustrating it is when your HP Smart Tank 5101 won’t connect to Wi-Fi, even though the blue wireless light is flashing and setup mode is active. Let’s walk through the steps to get your printer connected again.
Step 1: Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode
Even if the blue light is flashing, it may have timed out or not fully reset. Try this:
- Press and hold the Information button on the printer for 5 seconds until all control panel buttons light up.
- Wait about 60 seconds until the blue wireless light blinks steadily. This confirms that setup mode is active again.
- You now have 2 hours to complete setup via the HP Smart app.
Step 2: Use the HP App to Add a Printer
- Open the HP Smart app on your Android device or desktop.
- Tap the “+” icon to add a printer.
- Select your HP Smart Tank 5101 from the list.
- If it doesn’t appear, make sure your phone/computer is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- HP printers do not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.

Step 3: Alternative Setup via WPS (if needed)
If your router supports WPS:
- Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for 3 seconds until it blinks.
- Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
- Wait for the blue light to turn solid. This means the printer is connected.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
