Common problems for Connectivity Issues

macOS 10.14 Mojave

I've had two of these printers in the past with no problems. I now have a new 6970 and it will only print from MS Word, nothing else. I've followed lot's of directions to no avail. The set-up software says it can't find the printer. And HP will not give me a phone # to call!!!!

Let's update the firmware: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142

 

Check for any software updates on MAC Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

To isolate the issue, please perform a ping test and share the results- 

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer 

  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box 

  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings 

  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost. 

 

Note: There should be 0% packet loss

I'm not ready to upgrade to the Catalina operating system. The identical printers I used before purchasing this one worked fine with Mojave. 

 

Can we skip the entire operating system upgrade?
