THe HP app will not find my printer and it is on the same network.  And I cannot find a phone number to talk to someone at HP it will not let me out of the virtual assistant.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Smart facing a connection issue! 

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.  

  

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer isn’t showing up on the HP app, especially when it’s on the same network. Let’s try to get this sorted out step-by-step:

 

Restart Everything:

  • Turn off your printer, computer, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then turn them back on — start with the router, then the printer, and finally your computer.

Check the Connection:

  • Make sure both your computer and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network (sometimes devices can switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands).
  • On the printer, you can check the Wi-Fi connection by printing a Network Configuration Page:
    • Go to SettingsReportsNetwork Configuration Report.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (it’s a free tool from HP that can automatically detect and fix connection issues).

Manually Add the Printer:

  • Open the HP Smart app → Click on Add Printer → Choose Set up a new printer.
  • If it doesn’t show up, try adding it manually using the printer’s IP address (you can find this on the Network Configuration Report).
