I am trying to set up my printer to my wireless network but my SSID does not appear on the list in the printer

Make sure the printer is not in Wi-Fi direct mode if you are connecting to the modem.  You did not mention the printer model.  Many HP printers use only the  2.4ghz band. Make sure your modem has one name for the 2.4 and another for the 5ghz.

Some flats charge for connecting to the modem.  Others may not allow WPS or PIN method and have only one band.  You may want to configure the printer for Wi-Fi direct and not bother with the modem.

Please provide the Product ID or Model name for better assistance.

Hi Beemer Biker

thank you very much for the info it is very useful.  I got round the problem by changing my Modem from 5GHz to 2.4 and the printer is working fine now.  If I  leave the Modem on 2.4 am  I likely to have any problems?

Your smartphone, if any, and your computers should be on the 5ghz band for best efficiency and speed.

Use a different name for the 2.4 and the 5ghz bands. To keep it simple, use the same password and use only numeric digits such as someone's phone number. When in the router, run the app that finds the channel with the least amount of noise for both bands.
