Hi @Maddie35,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It’s frustrating when a password error blocks a device from connecting, especially when you know it’s correct. Let’s go through a few quick checks and steps to help resolve this issue with your HP 4200 printer.

  • Are other devices connecting to this new network with the same password without issues?
  • Did you previously connect the printer to a different network, and if so, have you tried resetting the printer’s network settings?
  • Are you using any special characters in your Wi-Fi password, as some printers have trouble with certain symbols?

Verify Network Password:
Double-check your network password on another connected device or through your router’s settings to make sure it’s accurate. Sometimes minor errors go unnoticed.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer:
Locate the Network Reset option on your HP 4200 (typically found in Settings or Network options). This will clear any previous Wi-Fi configurations and allow you to enter the new network information from scratch.

Reboot the Printer and Router:
Turn off both the printer and router, wait for about 30 seconds, then power on the router first and let it fully boot. Once the network is stable, turn on the printer and try connecting again.

Check Router Security Settings:
Ensure your router is set to WPA2 or WPA3 security mode, as these are compatible with most devices. Avoid WPA/WPA2 mixed modes, which can sometimes cause issues with printer connectivity.

Use HP Smart or WPS Setup (if available):
Try using the HP Smart app to connect the printer, as it can sometimes bypass direct network entry issues. Alternatively, if your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), press the WPS button on the router, then press the Wireless button on the printer to automatically connect without entering the password.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
