My hp smart tank 6001 will scan but not connect to wifi. It had done so before, and now is not. The wifi light is blinking with an exclamation point. I have tried restarting both my Verizon router and my printer. No luck. Please help.
Thanks

Hi @jcsaia8
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 6001 is experiencing a Wi-Fi connectivity issue, indicated by the blinking Wi-Fi button with an exclamation point. Since the printer can still scan, the problem is likely related to its network connection rather than hardware failure. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:
1. Restart Everything in the Correct Order
- Turn off your printer, router, and Mac.
- Wait 60 seconds, then turn them back on in this order:
- Router – Wait until it fully connects.
- Printer – Power it on and check the Wi-Fi light.
- Mac – Restart and try printing.
2. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer for 5 seconds until the light starts blinking rapidly.
- Wait for the printer to reset its network settings.
- Try reconnecting it to Wi-Fi.
3. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Wireless Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi Setup Wizard and choose your network.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password and confirm the connection.
4. Use the HP Smart App for Setup
- Download the HP Smart app from HP’s official setup page.
- Open the app and select Set up a new printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your network.
5. Check Router Settings
- Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz network, as some printers don’t support 5GHz.
- If your router has WPA3 security, switch it to WPA2 for compatibility.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- If possible, check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app.
- Updating the firmware can resolve connectivity issues. https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
