Hi @margejph

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you have changed your WiFi connectiona and you see No Filtering. Please be informed that:

  • No Filtering: Checks for MAC (Media Access Control) address filtering, which might prevent a connection to the wireless network. MAC address filtering is a method of controlling which devices have access to your router. Every network-capable device, such as your printer, has a unique MAC address.
  • If the test passes, MAC address filtering is not interfering with your wireless connection.
  • If the test fails, change your router settings to add your printer MAC address to the list of allowed devices. To find the MAC address, look on the Wireless Network Test report or print a Printer Information page.

Restart Devices

  • Power off your printer, router, and computer.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Turn on the router first, then the printer, then your computer.
  • This refreshes the network handshake between devices.

Update Printer Network Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, tap the Wireless icon.
  • Go to Settings → Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new Wi‑Fi network from the list.
  • Enter the Wi‑Fi password carefully.
  • Confirm connection — the wireless light should turn solid blue.

Router Configuration

  • Ensure your printer connects to the 2.4 GHz band (HP printers often don’t support 5 GHz).
  • If your router broadcasts separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, select the 2.4 GHz one.
  • Check firewall/security settings to ensure the printer is allowed to connect.
  • If WPA3 security is enabled, switch to WPA2 — many printers don’t support WPA3.

Use HP App

  • Install the HP App on your PC or mobile device.
  • Open the app and select Add Printer.
  • Follow the guided steps to connect the printer to your new Wi‑Fi network.

Reset Network Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Setup → Restore Network Settings.
  • This clears old Wi‑Fi details.
  • Run the Wireless Setup Wizard again to connect fresh.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
