Hi @bjharris1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A red exclamation point over your printer icon typically indicates that there is an issue that requires attention, such as low ink levels, paper jams, connection issues, or a problem with a specific print job.

Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the problem on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer:

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Check the HP Smart App or Printer Software:

  • Open the HP Smart app or HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
  • Look for any notifications or error messages that may explain the issue. Often, these apps will give more specific details about what the red exclamation mark is referring to (e.g., ink level, paper jam, print queue issue).

Check the Printer’s Display:

  • If your printer has a display panel, check it for any error codes or warning messages.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that your ink cartridges are properly installed and not running low.
  • Open the HP Smart app or Printer Assistant to check the ink levels.

Check for Paper Jams or Paper Issues:  HP OfficeJet 8010, Pro 8020 and 8030 Printers - Paper jam error

  • Inspect the paper tray for any jams or issues with how the paper is loaded.
  • Make sure the paper is correctly aligned and not curled or damaged.

Clear the Print Queue:

  • Sometimes, the issue might be due to stuck print jobs in the queue.
  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click your printer and select See what’s printing. If there are any stuck jobs, right-click and choose Cancel.

Check the Printer’s Connection:

  • Make sure your printer is connected properly to your network or directly to your computer.
  • If it's a wireless connection, confirm that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Restart the Printer and Computer:

  • Power off your printer, wait for 30 seconds, and then power it back on.
  • Restart your computer to refresh any driver or connection issues.

Run HP’s Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click on your printer and select Troubleshoot. Follow the on-screen instructions.
