I have an HP Officejet Pro 8610 and am running 64bit Windows 10 using Express VPN. I have enabled split tunneling and am able to use my printer's scanning function, but I still have to disable the VPN in order to Print. I have tried pointing the split tunneling at "PrinterControl4" but this does not seem to work. I need to know the correct file to point it at to bypass the VPN when I am printing.

Hi @JonathanH4,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
To use your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 printer with ExpressVPN split tunneling, you can configure your network so that your printer bypasses the VPN connection. This configuration allows the printer to access your local network for printing while other applications use the VPN. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Install ExpressVPN
- Download and install ExpressVPN on your computer.
- Open ExpressVPN and follow the setup instructions to connect to your desired VPN server.
Step 2: Enable Split Tunneling
- Open the ExpressVPN app and click on the gear icon to access settings.
- Select the "General" tab and check the box next to "Manage Connection on a Per-App Basis."
- Click on "Settings," then navigate to the "Split Tunneling" tab.
- Choose the option "Only allow selected apps to use the VPN."
Step 3: Add Applications for Split Tunneling
- Click on the "Add Application" button to specify which applications should use the VPN connection.
- Select all the applications that require VPN access, excluding any HP applications related to printer functionality.
Step 4: Save and Apply Settings
- Save the split tunneling settings and apply changes.
- Restart ExpressVPN to ensure settings take effect.
Step 5: Check Printer Network Configuration
Ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 printer is connected to the same local network (not the VPN connection):
- Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to your network.
- Open the HP printer software on your computer.
- Navigate to the network settings and ensure your printer is using your local network for connectivity.
