HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

Our wireless network has changed.  I need to reconnect to a different wireless node with the printer.  The printer is connected USB but will not bring up the connection menu so I can change the wireless network to the proper one.

Hi @davidst56,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the printer is currently connected by USB, to switch it to a new wireless network you'll need to configure the Wi-Fi settings directly on the printer itself. Here are two methods to try:

Method 1: Using the Printer Control Panel

  1. Access the Wireless Menu: The exact steps to access the Wi-Fi menu might differ slightly depending on your printer model. In general, navigate through the menus on the printer's control panel using the arrow keys and select buttons. Look for options like "Wireless", "Network", or "Setup".
  2. Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode: Within the Wi-Fi menu, there might be an option to "Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode" or "Reset Network Settings". This will put the printer in a discoverable state for a new network connection.
  3. Connect Using HP Smart App: Once Wi-Fi setup mode is enabled, download and install the HP Smart app on your phone or computer https://www.hpsmart.com/. The app will guide you through connecting the printer to your new wireless network.

Method 2: Using the WPS Button (if available)

  1. Locate the WPS Button: Some HP Envy printers have a physical WPS button with a logo like two arrows circling each other. If your printer has this button, proceed to the next step. If not, continue with Method 1.
  2. Press the WPS Button: Press and hold the WPS button on your printer for a few seconds (usually 3-5 seconds) until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking.
  3. Activate WPS on Your Router: Within a couple of minutes, you need to activate WPS on your router using its web interface or a WPS button on the router itself (consult your router's manual for specific instructions). This will establish a secure connection between the printer and your new wireless network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
