Hi @McInk,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I completely understand how discouraging it feels when the printer shows “connection successful” only to immediately drop off with “Internet connection unavailable.” You’ve already put in effort by resetting and reconnecting multiple times, and I appreciate the persistence you’ve shown. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Confirm Network Band

  • Ensure the printer is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band. Many printers do not maintain stable connections on 5 GHz networks.
  • If your router broadcasts both, give the 2.4 GHz SSID a distinct name and connect the printer to that.

Assign a Static IP

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Wireless Settings > Advanced Settings > IP Settings.
  • Switch from “Automatic” to “Manual” and assign a static IP address within your router’s range (but outside its DHCP pool).
Example: If your router assigns 192.168.1.2–192.168.1.100, choose 192.168.1.200.

Restart Devices in Sequence

  • Power off the printer.
  • Restart your router and wait until the internet light is stable.
  • Power the printer back on and let it reconnect.

Update Firmware

Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App

  • Open the HP App on your Windows PC.
  • Select your printer, then go to Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • This tool automatically checks for connectivity issues and repairs them.

Check Router Settings

  • Disable “Smart Connect” or “Band Steering” if enabled, as these can cause the printer to hop between bands.
  • Ensure MAC address filtering is off or that the printer’s MAC address is allowed.

Test with Another Device

  • Try printing from another Windows PC or mobile device using the HP App. This helps confirm if the issue is isolated to one computer or the printer itself.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
