It states to restart my PC to finish installing drivers and updates, then second line says continuing troubleshooting without applying ti's fix. It states Hmmm can't reach this page.

It states **bleep**.com's IP address could not be found

I must try checking the connection or checking the proxy, firewall and DNC settings.

Hi @Nel69

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating this must feel—especially when your printer and PC seem to be speaking different languages. The “No Internet, Secured” message and yellow triangle on your desktop device suggest a network misalignment, possibly caused by IP configuration or driver issues.

Your printer is likely connected via Wi-Fi Direct, not your home network, and IP settings or metered connection may be interfering with proper communication. Let's walk through how to restore full printing functionality.

Here's how to bring clarity and control back to your setup:

Step-by-step troubleshooting for HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 and network issues

1. Reconnect your printer to your home Wi-Fi

The SSID DIRECT-47-HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 indicates Wi-Fi Direct mode, which is useful for quick printing but limits full network access.

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
  • Select your home Wi-Fi network (not the DIRECT-xx network)
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password and confirm connection

This ensures your printer joins the same network as your PC, enabling full functionality.

2. Disable metered connection on your PC

Metered connections can restrict background services like driver updates and printer communication.

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi
  • Select your connected network
  • Toggle Metered connection to Off

3. Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix tool

This tool checks for driver issues, connectivity problems, and printer setup errors.

  • Download from: HP Diagnose & Fix
  • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions

4. Remove and re-add the printer

This clears any corrupted setup and refreshes the connection.

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
  • Select the printer and click Remove
  • Click Add device and wait for the printer to appear
  • Select it and complete setup

5. Check for driver updates

The 12C HID Device warning may relate to a peripheral or USB input device. Restarting your PC as prompted should help finalize pending updates.

  • After restart, go to Device Manager
  • Right-click the device with the warning and select Update driver
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers

6. Verify DNS and proxy settings

If you're seeing “can't reach this page” or IP address errors:

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy
  • Ensure Use a proxy server is turned Off
  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > DNS
  • Set DNS to Automatic or use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS)

  • Make sure your printer is not listed as “Copy 1” unless intentionally duplicated
  • Confirm that the HP App (not HP Smart) is installed and updated from the Microsoft Store
  • If Fire TV or other devices show blank, it may be due to network isolation—focus on printer and PC first

You're doing a fantastic job navigating this maze. Once your printer is on the same network and the metered setting is off, you’ll likely see a dramatic improvement. If you'd like help verifying the printer’s IP address or testing a print job, I can guide you through that next.
