I purchased T-Mobile’s 5G internet for my home. I have two HP 8600 all in one printers (11 years old) and a 9010 (2 years old). All worked fine wirelessly on Century Link. I have been able to connect the newer printer but not the other two. T-Mobile directed me to set up two separate nets at 2.4 and 5 GHz respectively. No luck. Are the printers just too old to work on the 5G platform?

Hi @DJL13,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Officejet Pro 8600 E-All-In-One Printer - N911a is designed to work with standard Wi-Fi networks, and it does not support 5G networks. The 5G in T-Mobile's 5G internet refers to the fifth generation of mobile networks, not the Wi-Fi frequency band.
The 5 GHz network T-Mobile is referring to is a Wi-Fi frequency band, not related to the 5G mobile network. Your HP Officejet Pro 8600 supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, but not 5 GHz. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are two different frequency bands used for Wi-Fi, and some devices only support one of them.
To connect your older printers to T-Mobile's Wi-Fi, you should connect them to the 2.4 GHz network, as the HP Officejet Pro 8600 supports this frequency. Make sure you are connecting to the correct Wi-Fi network during the setup process.
Here are some steps you can follow.
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless settings or setup menu.
- Choose the option to connect to a new wireless network.
- Select your T-Mobile 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
- Once connected, the printer should be able to communicate with your T-Mobile 2.4 GHz network.
If you're still facing issues, make sure your printers are within range of the Wi-Fi signal and that there are no connectivity issues with your T-Mobile internet.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
