Hi @Elberteno1
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the Information button on your HP printer is flashing and the printer is showing a "printer blocked" message, it usually indicates a specific issue, like a configuration problem, paper jam, cartridge error, or something related to the printer settings.
Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
1. Check for Paper Jams
A paper jam can trigger the "printer blocked" message.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the paper tray and the printer cover to inspect for any stuck paper or debris inside the printer.
- Gently remove any jammed paper or objects.
- Afterward, check that there is no paper stuck inside the printer mechanism (even small bits can cause the error).
- Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the issue persists.
2. Check for Cartridge Issues
If your printer detects an issue with the cartridges (like improper installation, missing cartridge, or an error with the Instant Ink system), it can cause the "printer blocked" message to appear.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and inspect them for any visible damage, or ink residue.
- Reinstall the cartridges securely and make sure they are correctly seated.
- If you are using Instant Ink, ensure the cartridges are correctly activated or check if there’s any issue with the Instant Ink subscription.
- Turn the printer back on to see if the issue resolves.
3. Check the Printer's Network Connection
If your printer is connected to a network, the "printer blocked" message could appear if there’s a problem with the network connection or communication.
- Verify the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection on the printer. Ensure it is connected to the correct network.
- If necessary, reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network using the printer's control panel. You may need to enter the network password again.
- If using USB, try reconnecting the cable to ensure a stable connection.
4. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
