IHP Ink Advantage 2875 printer will not print. And at some random moment, it will print several copies of the same document, one for each time I pressed "Print".

Hi @SleepyPete,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2875 Printer will not print. And your HP Ink Advantage 2875 is likely experiencing a printer queue jam (causing delayed multiple prints) and a connection or cartridge error (preventing normal printing). To fix this, cancel the pending print jobs on your computer and clean the print spooler, then troubleshoot the physical connection and ink cartridges.

Step 1: Clear the Print Queue (Fixes Delayed, Multiple Prints):

When you press "print" repeatedly while the printer is offline, it stacks commands. When it reconnects, it prints all of them.

  1. Disconnect the printer from your computer or Wi-Fi temporarily.

  2. In Windows, search for Services in the taskbar and open it.

  3. Scroll down and find Print Spooler.

  4. Right-click it and select Stop.

  5. Open your File Explorer and navigate to

     C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS.

  6. Delete all files in this folder (these are the pending documents).

  7. Return to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

  8. Reconnect your printer.

Step 2: Check Connection and Cartridges:

  1. Check Ink Levels: Ensure your cartridges aren't empty. You can check this or run a printhead cleaning through the HP Smart app.

  2. Remove Protective Tape: Open the access door and ensure all protective plastic tape has been peeled off the copper contacts of the new ink cartridges.

  3. Reset Wi-Fi/Connection: If using a wireless connection, press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons together until the power button blinks. Once the Wi-Fi light blinks, reconnect the printer using the HP Smart app.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
