Hi @XPerfect

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble connecting your printer via Wi-Fi Direct on Windows 11 and you're encountering the "That didn't work" error, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Ensure Wi-Fi Direct is Enabled on the Printer:

  • Check that Wi-Fi Direct is enabled on your printer. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel under network settings.

Check Network Compatibility:

  • Make sure your laptop's Wi-Fi is turned on and that it can detect the printer. Sometimes, being on a public or guest network can cause connectivity issues.

Forget Existing Connections:

  • On your laptop, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and remove any previously connected printers, especially those with the same name.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • Try using the HP Smart app for setup instead of Windows settings. Download the app from the Microsoft Store, and follow the instructions to add your printer using Wi-Fi Direct.

Check Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your Windows 11 is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates.

Use the WPS PIN:

  • If your printer supports WPS, you might try the WPS push method instead of the PIN. Press the WPS button on your router, then on the printer to establish a connection.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and laptop to refresh the connection. Sometimes a simple reboot can solve connectivity issues.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your laptop, as they can interfere with network connections.

Try a USB Connection:

  • If possible, temporarily connect the printer to your laptop via USB to complete the initial setup. Once set up, you can switch to Wi-Fi Direct.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
