I canceled HP Instank Ink as the system was having trouble recognizing my printer. Now when I go to print a document, an error message comes up on the printer requesting that I reconnect to HP Instant Ink. The error message will not allow my printer to go through until I acknowledge this message. I have tried factory restore, reset all settings, removed the printer from HP Smart, but nothing works, please help!!

@ewartwrfasdf, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. Are you using HP Instant Ink cartridges?

Instant Ink cartridges will not work after cancellation. Kindly use regular HP ink cartridges.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I canceled the service as soon as they sent the package of cartridges but I NEVER used  or installed the instant ink cartridges. The cartridges in the printer currently are store bought (staples).

I spent 2 hours on the phone with HP tech support yesterday; they bounced me around to 5 different technicians, none of which could resolve my issue. I eventually hung up the conversation for my personal sanity and due to having to leave the house.

I understand you are using regular HP ink cartridges. To assist you better, what model printer are you using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

Keep me posted.

Let us perform a factory reset on the printer and check if that helps to resolve this issue.

Note: The printer has to be reconnected to the network after the reset.

I have sent you a private message with a set of instructions to perform a reset. Kindly check the same, this might help you to resolve this issue. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Let me know how it goes.
