I want to print to my old laserjet 4plus via wireless so I connected it to a Jetdirect 300x and added it to my Windows PC via the IP address as it did not show up on the network. It all worked 100%.
So now I want to print from my Iphone and installed the HP Print app.
When I run it, it askes for IP address but cannot find the device - however if I go into Google on the phone and type in the address I am immediately connected to the 300x.
So how can I make this work ? Thanks

Him,
You cannot print from an iPhone to a Laserjet 4 Plus printer, the printer is too old and does not support Apple AirPrint not the HP smart application.
Only select models support printing from mobile device, as described in below support document:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2843711-2427128-16
You may try the 3rd party PrinterShare application and check if that may allow printing to your printer, if it cannot detect the printer you would need to install a companion app on your computer to print to such a legacy printer:

Hope that may help,

Just for updating you - I took a look at the suggested printershare app and although it was able to see my printer it just caused an error code to be displayed. BUT then I came across Printdirect which has 1001 setup options and in its free version it prints the test pages perfectly. So I now have a solution using a state of the art phone with a ancient router and printer. Long may my Laserjet4 Plus keep going.
