Hi! I’m having issue with connecting my Hp LaserJet M110w printer to my new network. I just moved to I had to reconnect my printer to my new wifi network. I set it up on my Iphone using hp app to add printer. I followed the instruction to get my printer on the connecting mode with. However, I can’t find my printer when searching for it using the app. I tried connect it under wifi set up. I saw my printer wifi under local network, but cannot connect to it using that PIN number provided on the printer. Has anyone encountered this same issue. If so could you share some insights. Thank you

Click Spoiler if you have a new router, have not reset the printer, and nothing else changed.

New ISP, same old printers, PCs and smartphones: Log into the modem or router and change the SSID (names) of each band so the names are different. Create a numeric password identical for each band to simplify login. If you must use alphanumeric characters then do not use any from this set: ilL1oO0D8B5S as they are easily mixed up depending on the font used. Be sure to run the application (if any) that finds the best channel for each band. Your ISP should be able to do all of this for you if you need help.

If you configure the new router with:

  • The same SSID (network name) as the old router
  • The same Wi-Fi password
  • The same security type (typically WPA2-Personal or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode)

Your printer may reconnect automatically. However, your PC may have an old IP address, but you can always tell the PC to find the printer, and it will obtain the new IP address.

Ideally, your Wi-Fi printer should connect to the modem or router. If your network has multiple boosters / repeaters, it is possible the printer may connect randomly to any of the units. The router needs to provide the same IP address on every connection. This rarely happens with random connects. An alternate Wi-Fi connection is Wi-Fi direct. Your laptop or smartphone prints directly to the printer and does not go through the router. For web services the printer must be online through the router, but you can still print using Wi-Fi direct. Do not call any phone number revealed in any video or site.

This video shows how to connect to the router: m110we
Wi-Fi Direct can be used to avoid configuring the router. Watch this: 2:50 in this video
Wi-Fi Direct is explained on page 19 of the User Manual, this Wi-Fi setup avoids configuring the router.
A simple connection to the router can be done by using the WPS pushbutton method. This is explained on page 6 in this User Manual.
