So I just upgraded my internet to google fiber, but I am still connected (and already reconnected my printer) to the 2.4ghz network.
I am trying to print a document. At first, it was telling me the printer was offline, even though it was on. Then I signed off and back on to the wifi on my comptuer and on the smart HP app, it says the printer is "ready" but when I try to print anything, nothing happens. If I try to print from the app, it says "printing failed" I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Everything else that was disconnected from the internet has reconnected itself and works. So I'm suprised it would be the wifi upgrade.

@Lizbeefroast, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP ENVY 5055 is struggling with the new network setup, even though it shows as "Ready." Here are a few troubleshooting steps to get it working:
Power Cycle Everything
- Turn off your printer, router, and computer.
- Wait 1-2 minutes.
- Turn on the router and let it fully boot up.
- Turn on the printer and wait for it to reconnect to Wi-Fi.
- Turn on your computer and try printing again.
Verify Printer Connection
- Open the HP Smart app → Click on the printer → Check network status.
- Print a Wireless Network Test Report:
- Press the Wireless button (or go to Settings > Network Setup).
- Select Print Wireless Test Report.
- Look for any connection errors.
Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
Even though you’re on 2.4GHz, re-establishing the connection might help.
- Reset the printer's Wi-Fi settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds until the power light blinks.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi:
- Open HP Smart App > Select Set up a new printer > Follow the instructions.
- Alternatively, use the printer's control panel to manually connect.
Check Printer as Default & Clear Queue
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP ENVY 5055 → Set as default printer.
- Open Printers & Scanners settings → Click on your printer → Click Open Queue → Cancel all documents.
Disable IPv6 (If Needed)
- Open HP Smart App or the printer’s embedded webpage (by entering the printer’s IP address in a browser).
- Go to Advanced Settings > Networking > IPv6.
- Disable IPv6, save, and restart the printer.
Update Printer Drivers
- Download the latest HP Smart App and HP Full Feature Driver from HP Support.
- Install and restart your computer.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run it to diagnose issues.
If it still doesn’t work, let me know what error messages you get, and we’ll troubleshoot further! 🚀
Take care, and have an amazing day!

HP won't be able to help you. I've had this problem for two years and spent more than 5 hours on the phone with them over several calls. I've already worked with my ISP to split it into two channels, but my printer still can't connect. HP does not understand the issue, but they sure like to transfer me around and try to charge me customer service fees.
The only thing that works is to use my cellphone as a hotspot. But a year later, even though my printer is connected to my phone hotspot, the website still says I'm disconnected, so I can't use my InstantInk cartridges (to which I'm subscribed). So, the printer is useless, and I'm paying monthly for ink and a printer I can't use!
