Officejet 5740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Gateway: SBG6580

Service: Cox Communications

I can connect my Officejet 5740 to my network wirelessly and I can connect both of my two HP Windows 10 (64) laptops to the same network wirelessly, but neither laptop will detect the printer.  I also have the same issue with another brand WIFI printer.  The 5740 will work fine through USB and used to work through ethernet connection to the gateway, but that doesn't work anymore either.  I've tried uninstalling/installing the printer software, restarting the gateway, laptops, and printer.  I also tried turn off my firewall too.  Nothing has worked so far.  I need some new ideas for a solution please!

I contacted the router manufacturer (since it was happening with two different printers, I figured it must be a network issue).  The problem was a setting called AP (access point) isolation that was blocking all WiFi devices from seeing each other on my network.  Once I disabled that setting, everything started operating correctly.  Thanks.

 Hi @GLKustoms.

I'd like to help!

To assist better -

  1.  I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?
  2. What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?
  3. Is your printer connected to a home or public network?

Meanwhile, Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor specifically created to help with printer offline conditions.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

Hope this helps!

Keep me posted.
