Hi, yellow light flashing, blue wireless button flashing, 3 buttons on the right of control panel flashing, control panel switched off. every couple of minutes I hear a click inside the printer and the lights are steady. after a second I hear movement inside the printer and the lights are flashing again. I am able to login to the printer from Windows computer and I am able to print some information in-between, but occasionally. After a couple of hours, the control panel is on and the lights are steady and the yellow light is now green and I can use the printer normally. Unfortunately just for an hour or so. The last firmware is installed by me, but this does not resolve the problem. Please help me!

Hi @LuckyMichael,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing some hardware or firmware issues with your HP Laser MFP 137fnw printer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Restart the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for a few minutes.
    • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. Check if the issue persists.
  2. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the official HP support website to check for any newer firmware updates for your printer model. If available, download and install the latest firmware.
  3. Factory Reset:
    • Perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to their default values. Refer to your printer's manual or HP support for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  4. Check for Paper Jams:
    • Open all access doors and check for any paper jams. Even a small piece of paper stuck in the printer can cause issues.
  5. Check for Hardware Issues:
    • Ensure that all connections, including power and USB/wireless connections, are secure.
    • If possible, try using a different power outlet and USB cable to eliminate these potential issues.
  6. Printer Self-Test:
    • Print a self-test page from the printer's control panel to check if the issue is present when not connected to the computer. This can help determine if the problem is related to the printer itself.
  7. Update Printer Drivers:
    • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Windows computer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you, Gaya1239 for the reply and the tips. All have been already done and I have the latest possible firmware installed. The problem is that the control panel is off and no menu can be used on the printer. However, I am still able to connect to the printer over the web page and able to print (over ethernet and/or over wireless). However I hear every minute or so a click from the printer and then the connection disappear and after a couple of seconds I can hear another click from the printer, followed by the noises, like the printer is connected to the power and initialize. After that I am able to reconnect to the web page of the printer and it goes so for about a minute and then it starts again from the beginning. I attach here the configuration page and a link to a short video on dropbox, demonstrating the situation.

Thank you in advance for your reply!

Hello Gaya, everybody!

I opened the control panel and the right cover, where the electronic boards are mounted.

I have disconnected and connected again the gray cable between the electronic board and the control panel.

In parallel I have pushed and pulled the small battery soldered on the back side of the control panel board.

Through these 2 actions I was able to resolve the issue, at least for now - since 2 days.

The printer is working properly and without this error anymore.

This information may be helpful for somebody in the same situation in the future.

Best wishes!
