HP Color Laser MFP 178nw

Hi, my hp 178nw doesnt connect to LAN anymore. Resetting the network setting does not help. The printed network config status show cable not connected. Tested the same cable worked for other devices. How do i get the printer repaired?

Hi @tomapi,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If resetting the network settings and trying a different cable didn't resolve the issue, there could be a few other potential causes for your HP Color Laser MFP 178nw not connecting to the LAN.

  • Port Issue: Try connecting the printer to a different LAN port on your router or switch. Sometimes, the port itself might be faulty.
  • Network Configuration: Ensure that the network settings on the printer are correctly configured. Double-check the IP settings, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS settings to make sure they match your network's configuration.
  • Driver or Firmware Update: Check if there are any available updates for the printer's firmware or drivers. Sometimes, outdated firmware or drivers can cause connectivity issues.
  • Firewall or Security Software: If you have firewall or security software installed on your computer or network that might be blocking the printer's connection, try temporarily disabling it to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Hardware Issue: It's possible that there's a hardware issue with the printer's network interface.
  • Factory Reset: If none of the above steps work, you might try performing a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to their default values, potentially resolving any configuration issues that may be causing the problem. However, be aware that this will also erase any custom settings or configurations you've set up on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
